Company Overview

  • Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd. (Lloyds) was incorporated in 1977 as a steel manufacturing company.
  • In 1994 we commissioned the 1st part of our Ghugus Unit (Unit 1) and began our production, with an annual capacity of 150000 MT
  • In 2007 We further added to this capacity, strengthening our annual capacity to 270000 MT Along with this we also added a Captive Power Plant (CPP) of 30 MW capacity.
  • Lloyds was awarded a lease for iron ore mines in 2007 at Surjagarh Village, Gadchiroli district, initially for a period of 20 years & extended to 50 years under MMDR Act, 2018. This district has Maharashtra’s richest iron ore reserves.
  • The overall iron ore reserves in the allocated mines were estimated by the Maharashtra Government’s Directorate of Geology and Mining to be 90 Mn tonnes (estimated in the 1980s), of which 73.6 Mn tonnes are proven. The extraction capacity of iron ore from the mines as of FY22 is at 3 MMTPA.
  • Lloyds Steel, a Group Company, was a pioneer in setting up India’s first private-sector Steel Plant in Wardha. In 2012 the management’s ownership and control of the Wardha Unit was handed over to the erstwhile group known as the Uttam Group.
  • Due to instability in the region, the company’s mines faced various challenges in operations. In 2021, the company entered into a strategic partnership with one of the largest mining development operators, Thriveni Earthmovers (Co-promoter), and from FY22 the mines have recommenced operations at full capacity.
  • Lloyds Metals is also in the process of completing the construction of a DRI Plant in Konsari, Gadchiroli district with a capacity of 72,000 MTPA.
  • As of FY 2023, The Company has commenced mobilization of all the necessary equipment and machinery to mine the enhanced capacity, it has been awarded an increased capacity from 3MTPA to 10MTPA. Additionally, initial reports by Tata Steel Industrial Consulting Limited indicate that against the 90Mn Tonnes of reserves initially estimated are far greater and would be in the range of 180 Mn mt with an additional 550 Mn Mt of BHQ ((Banded Hematite Quartz))
